Show -1: Galaxies in Gangs Wear Red

By Aaron on March 7, 2005 at 6:21 pm | In Slacker Astronomy Archival Podcasts |
Authorities report that galaxies have been spotted orbiting in a large gang with perhaps 1000s of members. Images provided by investigators show gang members with elliptical shapes displaying red colors. Galaxy on Galaxy harassment and violence is occurring in this gang, and it is possible that many galaxies are dead, and will never form stars again. The clustered galaxies were located roughly 9 billion light years away, and residents of Earth don’t need to worry that the violence with in the galaxy cluster will spread to the Milky Way. Residents should be advised, however, that the local Andromeda Galaxy has threatened to smash into our galaxy in roughly 5 billion years.
