Plasma is a state of matter when a gas gets really excited and hyperactive, it can lose one or more electrons and becomes ionized. Then it can do all kinds of neat things. Just look in a neon sign for an example of what plasma can do when it gets very excited. Aside from creative uses in science fiction and Las Vegas, plasma has a more mundane use as being the material that stars are made out of.

Another definition of plasma is the liquid that makes up blood, though this is much less interesting than gas shooting out electrons.
