The Moon is the only natural satellite of the planet Earth. While it is known to have a rather boring name in English, any attempt to come up with something more interesting have been stalled by those claiming to back tradition and a fear of the IAU stepping in and coming up with a worse name. Only in Science Fiction is it called "Luna".
The study of the moon is called Selenography.
Contrary to popular culture, the Moon was not blasted out of Earth orbit on September 13th, 1999 with over 300 humans. NASA is interested in building a new outpost there. Officially, it is unrelated to decades-long rumors of a magnetic-type anomaly in the crater Tycho.
The International Dairy Council deny rumors that they block further exploration of the Moon because it is composed of cheese. Attempts to have them respond to this article have been refused.
The Moon Walk Hoax
The large dark features on the moon that people sometimes mistake for the visage of a man were formed by basaltic lava flows in a process not too dissimilar from that which changed Michael Jackson's face over time, but the similarities stop there. The "Moon Walk" coined by Mr. Jackson in no way reflects the possible means of reasonable locomotion on the moon since it's gravity is only 1/6 that of the earth's. This is the result of it's mass, and despite the moon and earth being made of similar material, suggesting they were formed either in the same portion of the planetary disk that once circled the sun or that the moon formed as a result of a collision between a proto earth and another object formed in a similar orbit, the moon lacks an iron core. This reality suggest a higher probability of the latter theory, the collision, since the low density of the material that makes up the moon would have formed from the crust expelled into orbit as a result of the collision.
By looking at Michael Jackson's own collisions with reality which have produced such places as Neverland Ranch, it is possible to do comparative studies on these impacts, but it is still hard to reconcile such incongruties such the moon walk. In Neverland Land ranch, the moon walk is the prefered means of locomotion which begs the question, "What do you call tranversing the moon's surface...The Neverland Walk?"
Many believe the Moon is a hoax and are offering a $100,000 cash award to anyone who can prove its existence.

- The Moon is known to have two sides: the inside and the outside. The inside is currently unobservable, and therefore scientifically irrelevant.
