Voyager
From Slackerpedia Galactica
The Voyager missions (1 and 2) were built and launched to explore our Solar System in more detail. Actually, despite the names, Voyager 2 was launched first. This was a marketing move by NASA because they figured that Voyager 1, despite being launched second, would get to Jupiter first - a much smarter calculation than the time a multi-million dollar probe smashed into Mars because someone forgot to convert metric measurements to standard ones. This was because the media would cover the journey past Jupiter. Voyager 1 became the fastest man-made craft until NASA's New Horizons spacecraft.
Entire books and engrossing documentaries have been made about the incredible contribution and milestone that the two space probes (as well as the Pioneer twins) made to our civilization but we're here to poke fun. Regrettably sent into space with disco music on its famous Sounds of Earth disc, they may be the first ambassadors to Earth to happen upon a distant star or Solar System.
Do not ask NASA about Voyager 6. They don't like to talk about it and even deny that any such probe exists.
