Venus is the second planet from the sun. While it is as big as Earth it is not habitable. 90 times Earth's atmospheric pressure at the surface and acidic rainfall doesn't make for a very friendly place.

It is termed Earth's "sister planet," and is named after the Roman goddess of love. Its rotation lasts 243 Earth days, while its orbit lasts 224.7 earth days, making it the only planet to have its day longer than its year. Along with Mercury, they are the only planets without moons, however, it does have a Quasi-Satellite (like a Dwarf Planet, but less interesting or controversial, and only stay around for a few decades to mooch, then moves on) called 2002 VE68.

Venus was explored in depth by the USSR Venera probes and the American Magellan probe which mapped over 94 percent of its surface with radar.

In short, Venus is the ugly, poisonous, backwards sister of Earth, who can't keep a steady moon, but is named after the epitome of love and beauty.
