A weird-sounding moon, this is one of the many satellites orbiting Saturn but is sadly one of the more boring ones. In a testament to the ironic humor of astronomers, it was named after an incestuous Titaness who gave birth to thousands of nymphomaniacs. Unsurprising for its distance from the Sun, its surface is full of ice and well, not much else. Despite being kind of boring, it is big enough and in the right part of Saturn's satellite elliptical plane to have attracted two "moons" that co-orbit both Saturn and Tethys, named Telesto and Calypso, who had a bit part in the Odyssey.

Discovered by Giovanni Cassini, Tethys is pronounced te-this but no one will ever correct you if you do mispronounce it.
