Talk:Guidelines For Posting
From Slackerpedia Galactica
As to the question "Should Slackerpedia contributors keep their bio pages in the User namespace rather than the main namespace, e.g. User:Jorge or Jorge? Obviously some users are also personalities, i.e. Aaron etc and should definitely be in the main namespace."...
- I believe since - apart from the main TSG people (Aaron, Travis, Rebekah, Don, Doug and Michael, and of course, our dearly departed - but in a good way - Pamela) - we are all "users" of this site and we should have our bio pages in the User Namespace. Kevin 11:30, 28 September 2006 (EDT)
- I started mine as User:Jorge but a lot seem to go without the User: space so I moved mine. I'm a 0 on using the User: space (May i recommend we vote on things like this the ASF way 1 = All for it, -1 = Hell no, 0 = no preference, -0/ 0 no real preference but leaning to yes or no) --Jorge
- I've just done a quick count and ignoring Aaron and co, there are 3 users with bios in the main namespace and 9 users with bios in the User namespace. We have 40 users total (including Aaron and Lolife). My belief is that bios should be in the User namespace. --Matt 22:52, 28 September 2006 (EDT)
- Jorge has requested he be moved back into the User namespace which leaves only 2 users in the main namespace, Lukehaze and KyleCarm. If nobody objects in the next day or so, I'll move these and move this rule to the Emergent Rules section --Matt 23:16, 30 September 2006 (EDT).
- You got more than a day to object and nobody has so I'm going to make this an emergent rule and move the bio into the User namespace --Matt 06:25, 7 October 2006 (EDT)
You must be a logged in user! Yes, this is different than Wikipedia.
- I think wikipedia changed this recently --Jorge
Concerning capitalized titles and plurals.
- I like having capitalized titles. I just forgot to do it when creating Shooting Stars. I did make it Shooting Star because I think it's most appropriate to have single rather than plural nouns. --Beth 16:26, 23 Oct 2006 (EDT)
- I like capitalized titles. I also prefer singular titles, and we could redirect the plural form to the article. -- Mdslacker128 18:46, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
Should entries for organisations be entered as acronyms or in full, e.g. AAVSO or American Association of Variable Star Observers? And should we have redirects from one to the other? Retrieved from "http://www.slackerastronomy.org/slackerpedia/index.php/Guidelines_For_Posting"
- I think the entry title should be in full, and the acronym should be a redirect to the full name. -- Mdslacker128 18:50, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
- I agree with full capitals with a redirect from the acronym. --Beth 17:20, 24 Oct 2006 (EDT)
Filling in stubs. Do we delete the "This is a stub. You can help by filling it in." code?
- I've been deleting the stub comment, but I see some people are leaving it in. --Beth 17:17, 24 Oct 2006 (EDT)
Could the code for including external links to Wikipedia and elsewhere be in the master template or stubs when they are created?
- If there's a master template, could it include the code and words (External Links ...) for including such links? I think that would help remind people to add them and help them look consistent. Aren't we supposed to help people find the real info? --Beth 17:17, 24 Oct 2006 (EDT)
