Star Naming Conventions

Stars are named by their parents when they get together in big groups called Star Naming Conventions. Usually the name has an historical or religious significance.

Of course, Hollywood stars name their kids after road signs, fruits, vegetables, etc., which keep psychoanalysts in business as the kids grow up embarrassed by their parents.

As to astronomical-type stars, no one can “name” a star after anyone. If you try, you will just be throwing away your money. And if you’re going to do that, throw it towards the SA staff and support staff (us).
