Sombrero Galaxy
From Slackerpedia Galactica
The Sombrero Galaxy (also known as M104 or NGC 4594) is a bright galaxy in Virgo. It gets its name because, well - just look at the picture! It should not be confused with the Speedy Gonzalez Galaxy.
It is bright enough to be seen by amateur astronomers using medium sized backyard telescopes in typical suburban skies. As with all galaxies, it will look like a faint fuzzy. However, in dark skies and/or with large aperture telescopes the dramatic dust lane can be seen. You may want to use averted vision. Near the ecliptic, it is well placed for both northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere observers.
Celestial gossip rags like to report that Saturn is jealous of the Sombrero. Pay no attention as Saturn's publicist has stated many times that Saturn and the Sombrero have a mutual respect and would like to work together someday. But since it seems the Andromeda Galaxy and the Sombrero have about 41 billion years[http://www.google.com/url?sa=t
