Hovering around the ecliptic teasing amateur astronomers from both hemispheres, the Sombrero Galaxy is a very challenging fall target for observation.

Today's Brave Explorer

And off we go to Pluto.
And off we go to Pluto.

More like the name of a cliched car in a movie than a space probe, this ambitious little guy aims to explore the one planet/planetoid/solar system body that all other probes have given the cold shoulder to - Pluto. Although the nomenclature debate about Pluto was over before it even passed the Asteroid Belt, New Horizons hopes to investigate both tiny Pluto and its even smaller moon, Charon.

After this, the probe will swing into the Kuiper Belt and then the heliopause as it joins the Pioneer and Voyager probes in leaving the solar system. But don't hold your breath (really) for too long as Pluto will not be in range of probe cameras until 2015 and the vast Kuiper Belt until well well after that.
