Travis: Welcome to Slackerpedia Galactica, the podcast of Slacker Astronomy and a general force of good in the world. I'm Travis Searle and I'm here with Rebecca Turner -- Hi Rebecca!

Rebecca: Hi Travis. Well, Aaron, true to form, is slacking off getting a PhD and here we sit with no silly skit to do! Got any ideas?

T: Ideas! Boy do I have ideas! We could watch 24, we could do some blogging, maybe go to a bookstore, get a cup of joe?

R: I'm talking about the show! You know, the podcast? The one we're recording right now...?

T: Oh, that. Right. Well, actually,no, I don't have any ideas...do you?

R: Lucky for you I do. I was talking to Michael and Doug and they have a pretty cool new segment thingie they want to try out. It's called First Principles and they plan to discuss the basics of all sorts of cool topics in astronomy, like stars, galaxies and cosmology interspersed with fundamental physics and math. Think of it, Travis, math -- in a podcast! Doesn't that get you excited?

T: Oh boy, does it! Actually, it does sound kind of cool. First Principles, huh? I remember my first principal. In fact I still have nightmares about my first principal.

R: Can we leave your personal issues out of this?

T: Oh, OK. So, when do we get to hear this First Principles new segment thingie?

R: Let me check the show notes...one sec...(sound of pages flipping) it's here somewhere...here we go...ok. Now! Michael and Doug are ready right now so here we go....

<play the segment thingie>

T: Cool, thanks, guys! So, Rebecca, do you want to be an astronomer now?

R: How about I play one on TV, you know, like Jodie Foster? I think she makes more than fifty or one hundred K per year.

T: Yes, I bet she does. OK, folks, that does it for us. Remember to stop by slackerastronomy.org to listen to past shows, read the blog, visit the forums and defile the wiki. Because if you are not going to care about something, you may as well not care about astronomy! For Slakcerpedia Galactica I'm Travis Searle.

R: And I'm Rebecca Turner. Good bye!
