Pluton is a completely original sounding term that was proposed by the International Astronomical Union to describe objects like Pluto in a rejected redefinition of the term planet. Of course, this revolutionary name doesn't sound like the term plutino at all, and is really to easy to translate into other languages that already use the word Pluton to refer to Pluto. Some geologists also felt that astronomers were stealing their word, as "pluton" in geology describes certain igneous rocks. Geologists were already upset at astronomers since the astronomers star parties always got a bigger turnout than the geologists earth parties.
