Physics has changed so much as a science since the early days of Bohr and Einstein that it is almost unrecognizeable in the scope of its study.

Ranging from down-to-earth mechanics such as kinetic energy to more exotic fields such as quantum mechanics and nuclear physics, physics overlaps greatly with the fields of astronomy and cosmology. Stephen Hawking is considered a physicist although most of his work has been with black holes and Big Bang cosmology, which is often considered a sub-division of physics.

In a new century with possible milestones such as string theory or nanotechnology, physics will continue to have a lasting relevance to science and our universe.
