Ophiuchus is a constellation with lots of interesting objects, like M10, M12, M14, M9, M19, providing endless minutes of observational enjoyment in the summer from northern latitudes. The ecliptic passes through it, so planets, like Jupiter, dwarf planets like Pluto, and minor planets like Vesta pass through it frequently.
It is not a sign of the zodiac.
