Mercury
From Slackerpedia Galactica
Hello, I am Mercury, the new smallest planet in the solar system. That loser Pluto got kicked out so now I rule the lower end of planets. I have been visited by the probe Mariner 10 and hope to get more extensively studied by Messenger in 2011 (dang, that sucker is going to take FOREVER to get to me).Now I have to admit I'm a little worried about by my status. I am smaller than Titan, have no atmosphere and really didn't clear my own orbit, the sun took care of that for me. I am approximately 4900 km in diameter (for you non-metric folks that’s 3045 miles).
I am figured to have an iron core since I do have a magnetic field. Granted it's a bit small -- only 1% of the Earth's -- but hey, I'm small. There are a few theories about that but I'm keeping that secret until you Earthlings study me a bit more.
A few folks have theorized that I might have some water hidden in my polar regions from cometary impacts. I'm not telling until that Messenger probe gets here. Actually when you look at me I don't look much different than your Moon. I am heavily cratered, more so than your moon, and have a 3:2 resonance between my revolution period and my orbital period around the sun. That means my year is 88 days (well at least according to you Earthist scum) but have a day that is 58ish of your days long.
My name does come from that loser of a Roman god whose power was winged sandals. Geez how lame is that? Just because I orbit the sun in 88 days I get named after mister speedy shoes.
I have no moons and no atmosphere that has been discovered, unless you count really trace amounts of [[Hydrogen], Helium, and H2O. Probably means I don't have one really, I just seem to capture H and He with my magnetosphere from the sun.
Now that that poser Pluto is gone I now have the most eccentric orbit of the planets. I have a perihelion of 46 mil. Km and aphelion of 70 mil.Km. I have almost no axial tilt, only .01 degrees, take that with your 23 degree tilt Earth!
If you want to see me you had better get up early in the morning or look at sunset. You're not gonna see me at midnight I promise.
