Latinized version of "Laporte", the name unsuccessfully proposed by an American computer talkshow host to the IAU in 2001 for a number of constellations that he felt were ignored by astronomers and the public, since their names were unmemorable. The organization refused, but compromised by renaming the constellation "Inconsequentia" to "Lepus", evoking the classical form of the name Laporte from antiquity. In this case the appellation is entirely appropriate, because the asterism traces out a jumbled-up mess of ethernet cables.
