Any of a large number of bodies (some of which could be planet-sized) beyond the orbit of Pluto. While most astronomers agree the name is a good one (it's named after its discoverer - Gerald Kuiper), most astronomers do not agree on the pronunciation of the name. This has led to fisticuffs and hullabaloo only slightly exceeded by the Pluto debate.
The New Horizons mission to Pluto may possibly visit a KBO after the primary mission to Pluto if a KBO is found within its fuel range. Astronomers are busy looking for one.
