Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and is a gas giant. And we mean big. It's pretty close to becoming a star in its own right. It is the first of the outer planets beyond the asteroid belt. When Galileo Galilei used his first telescope on Jupiter, he discovered the first four moons in orbit around another planet. They are called the Galilean Moons in his honor.

A lot of smaller rocks are attracted to it because it gives killer parties every first day of the Jovian year! To bad it's a bit windy there. Lots of moons orbit Jupiter, such as scenic Europa, so you should be able to find somewhere to crash on your visit.

Jupiter is also home to a historic landmark in astronomy when it was the victim of the evil Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 in 1994. Physicists might argue that Jupiter and its huge gravitational pull was at fault but they are obviously wrong. Whatever the case, this was the first instance of a Near Earth Object-like comet impact which could be observed with modern instruments. The fact that this impact did not strike the planet on which the astronomers happened to be watching from as well as the observations that just one of the comet fragments created an impact zone that almost as wide as the Continental United States and Europe combined only helped to underscore the Ooh Aah Factor of the comet's nefarious attack.
