Hydromagnetism
From Slackerpedia Galactica
The ability of new telescopes and other astronomy related equipment to emit hydron particles. These hydrons attract water molecules in the atmosphere and cause clouds to form, limiting the ability to use the new equipment. Large enough concentrations of new astronomical equipment have been known to cause hurricanes to form and head in the direction of the greatest hydron particle density.
Other experimental evidence suggests that any new accessory, even if free, can emit hydrons. For example, an offset mask can be made for a Newtonian telescope in a few minutes using cardboard you were going to throw out anyway. The result: rain.
Another method of generating hydrons is to wash your car.
