David Levy
From Slackerpedia Galactica
"Comets are like cats; they have tails,
and they do precisely what they want."
- David Levy
David Levy is an amateur astronomer who has discovered over 40 asteroids and 20 comets, including Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, the one that smacked into Jupiter in 1994. Many of his discoveries were with the late Eugene Shoemaker and his wife Carolyn.
He's also a devoted evangelist for amateur astronomy, an anti-light pollution activist, and hosts his own internet radio show, Let's Talk Stars. He also is the astronomy writer for Parade magazine, a post formerly held by Carl Sagan.
