Cygnus
From Slackerpedia Galactica
Cygnus is a constellation also known as the Northern Cross. Its brightest star is Deneb which is also one of the three stars in the Summer Triangle along with Vega and Altair.
Cygnus supposedly resembles a swan. If you've only seen the majestic white birds with the S-curve necks floating in a pond, you might wonder what the ancients were smoking. However, swans are majestic when flying overhead as well. Their necks stretch out, and they resemble their namesake constellation.
Deneb is the back feet and tail feathers. The beak is graced by Albireo which is a beautiful, close, gold-blue double star. The two bright stars back by Deneb represent the wings. The swan is flying south along the Milky Way.
In Chinese mythology, Cygnus is a bridge that two separated lovers can cross to see each other. The bridge spans a river represented by the Milky Way.
The Northern Cross is often visible all night in July from higher northern latitudes. This scares away vampires, which otherwise would be active at night.
