Contact
From Slackerpedia Galactica
A book by Carl Sagan, about a radio astronomer, a really lousy car Vega, a signal, and a long, strange trip. Later, a movie by Robert Zemekis, starring Jodie Foster and Bill Clinton (the latter, against his will). Although the protagonist is female, those close to him said the lead character reflected Sagan more than anyone else.
The song Contact by Phish is fun to sing with your kids. And 3-2-1 Contact was probably watched by many protonerds besides me in the 1980s. Neither are mentioned in the film.
