Ceres

Ceres is the largest known asteroid, and it is a Dwarf Planet that shares it's orbit with its asteroid friends in the asteroid belt. Ceres will be explored by Dawn in the not so distant future. It's surface is pure water ice and could have more fresh water than Earth.

When Ceres was first discovered it was referred to as a comet, but then it was considered a planet for about 50 years. Then it became an asteroid (aka minor planet) for about a century and a half. Now it is considered the aforementioned dwarf planet and may also be a small solar system body (jury is out on that one). After changing coats so many times, Ceres is known as the politician of planets.
