Constellations are a man-made conglomeration of stars in a particular part of the sky, which happen to look like something familiar, like a bear, a bull, an eagle, or Roger Ebert. Usually the people naming the constellations were drunk or stoned, so they saw a lot of things up in the sky that no one else did.

Currently there are 88 constellations. But only if you believe the "experts." It is rumored that at the next General Assembly, the International Astronomical Union will be demoting some of the smaller constellations to "dwarf" status.
