Carl Sagan was an American astronomer known for wearing a turtleneck sweater with a sports coat. He worked on many projects with NASA, including Pioneer, Voyager, and Viking; and is best known for his work on the PBS series Cosmos. Popular legends have this series giving us the phrase "Billions and Billions," which has been named by computer geeks as Sagans in his honor.

He is also responsible (along with his wife Ann Druyan) for the book titled Contact which became a movie whose sole purpose was keeping Jodie Foster's career afloat.

Sagan was a strong proponent of critical thinking and skepticality (don't see Astrology), writing many papers and books on the subject.
