Astrophotography is the imaging of astronomical objects, either with film or by electronic means.

Even though CCD (electronic) imaging does wonders, there are still purists out there who believe that the best images come from film, which lends a romantic, nostalgic feeling.

Film astrophotographers believe CCD imagers aren't true astrophotographers. They believe the CCD crowd "cheats" to get images, and has no appreciation for the finer techniques of shooting with film, including hours guiding while exposing the film, etc.

CCD imagers call the film people "old-fashioned" and unwilling to adjust to the new technology.

Of course, they both are right.
