Astronomical Distance

Astronomical Distances are really far. How far? They're so far, they're Astronomical!

Consider getting in your car and driving at highway speed for half a year, without sleeping or taking any brakes. That gets you to the distance of the Moon. The Sun is 400 times farther. The next nearest star is a quarter million times farther than that. And that qualifies it as nearby. And it just keeps getting worse.

It has been noted that to have much of a grasp on understanding the Universe, one needs to know Astronomical Distances and Geological Time.
