Astronomers NEQ Astrologers

The etymology of the word "astronomer" is "star namer". The idea was to keep them in alphabetical order, the brightest ones first. We started with the "A"s and got through a fair number, but being slackers we got bored thinking up new ones and started giving them serial numbers instead.

Amateur or Professional... They all Astronom!

Professional Astronomer

One who is paid to look at the stars, planets, nebulae and all the rest and ponder what is going on up there. Such as Carl Sagan or Pamela Gay.

Amateur Astronomer

One who does the same as a professional astronomer but pays to do it instead.
