Aquarius
From Slackerpedia Galactica
Aquarius is a Constellation that is one of the twelve signs of the the Zodiac. Back when Astronomy and Astrology were the same discipline, and the heavens were thought to influence the destiny of people, Astrologers used their real observations to make their predictions. So people born from January 20th to February 18th would have the Sun in this constellation. Despite the obvious fact that one can't observe the constellation when the Sun is in the middle of it, the ancient Astrologers were able to figure this out. So get out a planetarium program and look where the Sun is during these dates. For most of this time, the Sun is in Capricornus. Only towards the end of the period does it lie in in Aquarius. This has little to do with how Astronomers have changed the shape of the Constellations or the Proper Motion of stars or how the calendar has changed over the millennia. The Precession of the Earth's moves the axis of rotation in a circle once about every 25,800 years. So all of the constellations have moved a bit. Astrologers have not kept up. Perhaps it has been too fast.
In myth, Aquarius was the water barer. Which is why Astrologers consider it an air sign. Are Astrologers all wet?
